Christmas Tree Fundraiser
Dear Scouts and Parents,
We need a minimum of 16 more scouts and 1 more parent to make the Christmas Tree Pick-up Project work. Please take 2-1/2 hours this weekend to help support both the troop and the community by helping to distribute flyer/door-hangers. This is a major fundraiser (via donations) for the troop. This money goes to the purchase of merit badges and awards and troop equipment, among other things. The troop needs your support.
What are we doing?
We will be hanging flyers on neighborhood doors advertising a Christmas Tree Pick-up Service. The flyer gives instructions on how the homeowner can put their tree out for Troop 271 to pick up for recycling. If we don't distribute the flyers, there won't be any trees for us to pick-up and recyle....
What is involved?
Hanger distribution: You will meet in Carmel Valley (carpools possible), where you will be given a map of a specific neighborhood with a route clearly outlined. Teams of two scouts and one adult will walk through the assigned neighborhood, hanging door-hangers advertising this community service. That's it!
How long it will take?
Just 2-1/2 hours (plus commute)
When will it happen?
Flyer/Door-hanger Distribution: December 20, Saturday 10-12:30

Introduction to the Blog
The troop blog is here to serve a purpose two fold.
First the troop blog is here to serve as a means of conveying information to patrol leader*, and to patrol constituents. This is a beta program to determine whether we can replace the troop phone tree with a blog. After seeing these blog posts please vote on how you feel effective you feel the blog is. The voting is on the upper left hand side of the screen.
The other purpose of this blog is to serve a pilot program to see the response and effectiveness. If this is deemed effective, we may implement similar concepts for each patrol. If the feedback proves positive on both fronts
So please use this new resource to its fullest extent and provide feedback by voting.
* Note to Patrol leader: For those scouts that have intermittent internet access it is your responsibility to contact them with this information
